Skip tracing is a bit of a misnomer, because it implies that someone has intentionally left town, but from our point of view, it refers to anybody who has gone missing and needs to be located. There are many reasons you might want to locate someone, and it is usually worth the effort to do so. Following are three reasons to find someone through a professional skip tracer and how our private investigation firm can assist you.
Debt Collection
This is one of the most common reasons to locate a person. They owe money, and they can no longer be found. Usually this means that their contact information, such as the debtor’s phone number and address, is inaccurate. Often the situation is one where the debtor is ducking their financial obligations, and they believe by changing their address and phone number, they can avoid a debt collector. However, our private investigation firm can locate people who think they can hide from their financial obligations, and this is usually beneficial to a collection agency. Once the debtor is located, it is then possible to bring the debtor to court for the purpose of wage garnishment or other methods of repayment of a loan or other debts.
Child Support
Skip tracing for the purpose of locating a father to enforce a child support order is almost always worth the effort. There are three reasons for this. Child support is something that is owed throughout a child’s life; it is not a one-time payment. Second, it is cumulative, so a mother can sue for back child support, and third, this is a debt that cannot be discharged in a bankruptcy. We routinely work with attorneys to find fathers, so they can be made to fulfill their financial obligations to their progeny.
Witnesses and Other Individuals Needed for Legal Reasons
You may need to locate an individual for various legal proceedings. We work with attorneys all of the time for this purpose. It may be a witness that is needed to testify in support of a client’s claim. Whether we can locate the individual needed will be dependent upon the amount of information that is available to our investigators, but we have a good track record of success. It is also common to have the need to serve an individual with legal papers, but this requires the location of the person to be known. We can find out where a person is living or working and serve them with these documents. In this capacity our private investigation firm is providing the services of both skip tracing and process serving.
If you need to locate an individual for the reasons mentioned above, or perhaps a reason not mentioned, then contact us for a consultation. Even in situations where it seems impossible to find someone, you may be surprised at what we can do. Our private investigators have the skills and access to information the average person does not have. Let us know who you want to locate and why, along with the information you currently have about the individual, and we can tell you how our services can help you.
